Bever Dye Attorneys selected to Kansas Super Lawyers for 2009
Bever Dye, LC attorneys have once again received the designation of Kansas Super Lawyers for 2009 in the tax practice area. They are William M. Cobb, Jack D. Flesher and Eric J. Larson. Also, Brian A. Turney has received the designation of a Kansas Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2009 in the estate planning and probate practice area.
Eric J. Larson Speaking Engagements
Eric spoke to the Wichita Bar Association in February 2010. His topic was entitled "2010 Federal Estate Tax: A Brave New World or Congressional Malpractice?".
Eric will also be speaking at the ACTEC Annual Meeting in Florida in March 2010.
Eric J. Larson spoke at the KSCPA Tax Conference in November 2009 on the latest federal estate and gift tax developments. He also spoke to the Independent Banker's Association of Texas through a web broadcast in December 2009 on estate planning for the owners of S corporations.
Bever Dye Lawyers Author Chapters in Kansas Administration Handbook
Eric Larson and Bob Hughes, both members of Bever Dye, LC, were asked by the Kansas Bar Association to write a chapter on the newly revised KBA Estate Administration Handbook. Eric's chapter covers management of assets within the probate estate, and Bob's chapter discusses issues affecting the sale of property in both probate proceedings and trust administrations. Eric Calvert, an associate of the firm, assisted with the composition of both chapters. Larson and Hughes presented their respective chapters as a part of the rollout for the Estate Administration Handbook at the KBA Continuing Legal Education Seminar on October 17, 2008 in Salina, Kansas. The Handbook is widely used by lawyers in the state of Kansas in the administration of estates and trusts. In addition to fundamental estate and trust administration law, the Handbook contains valuable forms that assist practitioners in this area.
Bever Dye Announces New Associates
Bever Dye, LC is pleased to announce that Charles W. Mangrum has become an associate of the firm. Charlie received his undergraduate degree from Mississippi State University and graduated from the University of Mississippi Law School. He also received his Master of Laws (Taxation) from the University of Florida. Charlie will practice in the areas of taxation, trusts and estates, wills, probate, and business law.

Danielle received her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University and graduated from Washburn University Law School. Community Involvement
Gregg C. Goodwin has been selected for the Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants (KSCPA) "20 up to 40" Leadership Program Class of 2010.
Gregg C. Goodwin spoke to the Real Estate Investment Group in October 2009. His topic was "The Impact of Cost Segregation Studies on IRC Section 1031 Like-kind Exchanges."
Eric S. Parkhurst spoke to the Kansas Legal Professionals, Inc. in September 2009. His topic involved Mergers and Acquisitions/Corporate related matters.
Robert M. Hughes is currently serving as President of the Wichita Estate Planning Council.
Eric Parkhurst has been named Treasurer of the Downtown Y's Men Club for the current year.
Robert Hughes has been named to the Board of Trustees of the Wichita–Sedgwick County Historical Museum.
